From Brandon at 2008-03-03 20:12:53 : I was surprised to learn that Go North East were not aquiring the Enviro 200's since Redby owned them outright unlike the modern Volvos which were on loan Shouldnt this buses be receiving new Go North East branding soon though? or is a low floor replacement due? On their website, they have four vehicles returned to Redby for disposal. Im assuming these are the Excel's.
From Chris at 2008-03-04 11:56:33 : I think there were only 3 Excels. Other vehicles which are likely to go the journey are those old Leyland deckers. As for the Enviros I had assumed they were loaned too and went back along with the Volvos, but I could be wrong.
From Brandon at 2008-03-05 20:24:51 : I wonder what vehicle will be replacing the 4782 for the 99. It seems like all the deptford spares are going to work on the 33 / 42. Unless a Caetano Compass is used from the 35 when the citaros arrive.
From Brandon at 2008-03-07 20:30:15 : Ill be glad to see the back of those excels. Whenever it rained, it came flooding into the seating areas and the vibrations from one of them when it stopped was awful. I once saw a driver wearing a hat since it had no heating at all. Good ridence I say!
From Chris White at 2008-03-08 17:57:15 : Thats Optare Excels for you! One of the reasons GNE sold theirs on.
From Brandon at 2008-03-10 19:36:39 : I was very surprised to see a Plaxton Prestige operating on the 99 today instead of 4872 Does this mean that the sigma has been withdrawn this soon?
From Nathan brown at 2008-09-15 21:46:42 : the X35 are now getting those pathetic caetano compasses. the other day, it took 8278 4 mins to climb houghton cut. i think i could have walked faster !
From Chris W at 2009-08-14 22:11:27 : You'll be happy to learn that the X35 are no longer being stuck with Caetanos-they're too unreliable. Rumour has it that Solars may be moving onto the X35 after this autumn's big shake-up. For now the X35 is being served by Yellow Olympians and the odd Solar/SPD.
From Nathan Brown at 2009-09-04 18:17:51 : I live in Hetton Le Hole and every time i go to sunderland now i get the 35 or M1 to Houghton and i catch the 20 cause the reliability is rubbish on the X35
From Chris W at 2009-09-05 19:27:29 : You're right, it has been. It looks certain to be the black Scanias moving onto the X35 and theres every chance the frequency might be increased so you never know, reliability might be improved. But the 35's Citaros are always going to be a better ride anyway ;-)
